 Review

Model Solutions produces a new innovated sound module for RC airplanes, boats and of course tanks in this review we'll look at their SFX6 module that allows for custom sound instillation.  Also LEDs can be connected and timed with a specific sound like the machinegun or main gun sounds. I found the reduced size fantastic, as 1/16 scale tanks can be quite restrictive in internal space. The PDF Hardware instillation instructions makes installing the module a snap. I the video I created my own sounds for a M60A3, even the windup just before starting.

David at Model Solutions has created a sound card that not only can you modify each and every sound file without the extra expense of buying a lot of programming tools it even has it's own built-in 40 Watts amplifier you can even hookup two separate speakers all you need to have is a USB cable. David will fully load your SFX6 with the sounds you selected from the Model Solutions website or you can download them yourself or even create your own using sounds from various online sound libraries. With the editing software included on the disk you can even record sounds right off YouTube. The process is simple and you don't need a huge sound file, just a small 16 bit sound sample of the tank running then a start up then a shutdown and that's it, the software does the rest. Small in size but not in power the  SFX6 packs one heck of a powerful punch at full volume and still produces a rich proportional sound of outstanding quality, the built-in 40 Amp will blow you away, if you notice in the video it's powerful at the rear of the M60 it's almost as if your standing right behind the real thing you can almost smell burnt diesel and cherry juice (hydraulic fluid), simply outstanding. The professionals at Model Solutions are always finding new ways to improve the SFX6 now with 16 Regular sounds rather than 8 and are now adding a feature to allow the two throttle inputs to control one engine sound so for those tank users that use two throttles, one for each track, they will be able to control the sound with either throttle.

 Engine 1 Sound

"Engine1 sound" in the SFXPC3 software panel will split the running sound file you created into a max total of 31 sound clips each split sound clip has a gradual increasing pitch, along with startup, idle and shutdown totaling 34 proportional sound files that can be added, all sound files in the panel are initiated via the throttle on your transmitter.

Regular Sound

In addition to the Engine1sound panel there are two additional panels one of which is the "Regular sound clips" panel where you can add eight sound clips, in a tank these sounds would be main gun, machinegun, hatch opening sounds, voice, any four of those eight sounds can be selected via a designated channel on your transmitter a sound file can be configured with a "Latched" and repeated or a "Played Once" button.

Engine2 Sound

The last panel is "Engine2 Sound", clips can added up to a total of 34 proportional sound clips and gain the program will split the running sound file or the turret in the same fashion as the engine1sound panel,  and like the Engine1 panel the sounds are synced directly with the movement of a motor and controlled via the transmitter, in a tank one would place turret traverse sounds engine2 panel.

Conclusion

If you need an extraordinary powerful high quality sound module that offers super flexibility in a compact size, that you can modify the sound  to fit almost any application, then the Model Solutions SFX6 Sound Module is perfect for you.
