VS TANK REVIEW #2 TIGER TANKS, AIRSOFT AND IR VERSIONS
Please read
VS Tank Review #1
first as a lot of relevant information
about VS Tanks has already been covered
there.
VS Tank offer three different versions
of their 1/24 Tiger tanks; representing
early, mid and late production periods.
For this review, VS Tank have sent along
airsoft, (dark yellow) and IR combat, (camo)
tanks, both of which are 'late
production', steel wheeled Tigers. The
only difference between them is that the
gun sight reinforcement on the mantlet
is absent on the airsoft version.
The IR version of course also has the
light lenses at the base of the turret
and the IR target is located under the
close defence weapon on the turret roof.
These tanks both reflect VS Tanks' high
standard of quality control, after 3
months regular use now, my kids and I
haven't experienced any problems with
them, and that goes for the T-72
reviewed earlier.
The VS Tigers are equipped with
realistic looking, individual 'snap
together' links, they hold together
pretty well but if the tracks get
something stuck in them or if you try
'super spins' on resistant surfaces they
will come apart, they are, however, easy
to click back into place. If you do end
up breaking a link, some spares are
included.
The IR Tiger has a recoil action on the
main gun when fired and both versions
have working headlights. Remenber that
both versions have a 40 shot ammo limit
and to 'reload' you need to reset the
on/off switch.
Remote Controls, please note that on the
airsoft version the machine gun button
also becomes the main gun 'safety'
button which you also need to hold down
to fire the main gun.
Included with the airsoft version are a
bag of plastic BB's and a cardboard
target. Make sure you follow the safety
guidelines provided about the use of
airsoft tanks, everyone in the area
should wear safety glasses because the
BB's can ricochet a long way.
I found a good game that kids enjoy is
to take turns, (5 shots each turn) to
fire into a 'target rich environment' of
plastic soldiers and see how many each
player could knock over with their 5
shots.
The Tiger's don't have the benefit of
the new, improved gearbox/motor
combination which VS Tank introduced
with the T-72 and the difference between
the selectable speeds is not as well
defined, but nevertheless they still
have 3 forward and 2 reverse speeds.
